Yeast Rolls
Serves: 12
2 packages yeast
1/2 cup warm water (lukewarm)
1/2 cup Crisco vegetable shortening
1/3 cup sugar
1 whole egg
1 teaspoon salt
2 - 2 1/2 cups plain flour
Dissolve yeast in water and set aside. Then in a large mixing bowl beat Crisco and sugar together until fluffy. Then add egg and salt and beat again. Gradually add 2 to 2 1/2 cups of flour. This will be too thick for mixer now so you will have to work it with a spoon or spatula. Cover the bowl with a towel and set in a warm place until it has risen to the top of the bowl. Place dough on a floured surface and make into rolls. Put on a greased biscuit pan and let rise again. Once they have risen a second time bake in a 375°F over until brown.
